In systems of strong judicial review, constitutions and entrenched rights limit elected governments, and courts can invalidate laws that breach them, e.g. India, United States, Germany. In systems of parliamentary supremacy, elected legislatures retain ultimate legal authority and can make or repeal and law without courts having the power to strike it down, e.g. UK, Sweden, New Zealand.
